Propose a Workshop

Have a great idea for a fiber arts or related workshop? Are you an expert ready to share your skills? Propose a workshop for the 2024 Great Lakes Fiber Show! Workshops are held morning and afternoon for three hours, on both Saturday and Sunday. And for topics that require more time, full-day workshops may be an option.

Use the form below to submit your proposal, paying careful attention to all of the requirements. Proposals will only be considered if they are complete by the deadline.

PROPOSAL DEADLINE:  August 31

IMPORTANT TO NOTE —

  • ACCEPTED PROPOSALS: Instructors submitting accepted proposals will be notified by November 1
  • CANCELLATION: Classes require a minimum of four students. The Great Lakes Fiber Show reserves the right to cancel any class up to one month before the event.
  • PAYMENT: Instructors will be paid in full during the weekend of the Show. All materials and collection of materials fees are the responsibility of the instructor.
  • LIABILITY: In the case of fire, theft, or damage to any instructor's equipment on the premises, neither the Wayne County Fairgrounds nor the Great Lakes Fiber Show will be responsible or liable for loss. Instructors must secure their own insurance coverage to protect themselves and their equipment, and to cover damage that might be inflicted on the building and/or property of the Wayne County Fairgrounds.

Completing Your Proposal

A login is required to complete a workshop proposal, and the instructor must be the logged-in user. While your proposal's status remains in Draft, you may save your work and return later to complete your proposal. A few tips —

  • All fields are required. Although you will be able to save your draft with empty fields, your proposal will not be considered if fields are left blank. If a field is not relevant to your workshop, enter NA or None, or $0 for a currency field.
  • The text entry fields have character maximums, so you may prefer to draft your responses in a Word or Google doc. Do not copy and paste directly from either of these applications — use Save As to save the document as a TXT or RTF file before you copy your content! Copying directly will paste a lot of hidden formatting characters into your form and cause your entries to exceed the character limits. Character counts include punctuation and spaces.
  • If you need additional space for a response, use the Additional Info field at the bottom of the form — but be aware the field has a 255 character maximum.
  • Having trouble? Send an email to tech@greatlakesfibershow.org
